Major milestone reached for new primary care facility in Oceanside

QUALICUM BEACH, B.C. – July 2, 2026: The Mid Island Health Alliance (MIHA) is pleased to announce that construction of the new Primrose Medical Centre located at 661 Primrose St. Qualicum Beach, will officially begin on July 2, 2026, marking a significant milestone in expanding access to primary healthcare for the Oceanside community.

The new medical centre has been made possible through the collaboration of healthcare professionals, community leaders, donors, volunteers, businesses, and residents who have rallied behind the vision of improving local access to family medicine and primary care services.

MIHA is proud to partner with R.W. (Bob) Wall Ltd., under the leadership of Donna Hais, to construct the new facility. Once completed, the Primrose Medical Centre will provide modern clinical space designed to support physicians, and other healthcare professionals serving the growing needs of Oceanside residents.

“This is an exciting day for our community,” said Susanne Cunningham, Chair of the Mid Island Health Alliance. “Breaking ground represents far more than the start of construction—it represents years of planning, fundraising, and community collaboration coming together to improve healthcare for current and future generations.”

Although construction is now underway, fundraising efforts will continue throughout the project. Community support remains essential to help finalize the project and equip the clinic with the medical equipment and resources needed to provide high-quality patient care from the day it opens.

“The generosity of our donors has been extraordinary,” added Marilyn Harvey Heinz, Director of Mid Island Health Alliance, “Every contribution has helped bring us to this point, and continued support will ensure the Primrose Medical Centre opens fully equipped to meet the healthcare needs of our community.”

MIHA extends its sincere appreciation to every individual, business, volunteer, healthcare provider, and community partner who has contributed to making the Primrose Medical Centre a reality.

Together, the community is building not only a new medical facility but also a stronger, healthier future for Oceanside.
