Construction of the Primrose Medical Centre Begins July 2nd

We're thrilled to share an exciting milestone for healthcare in Oceanside: construction of the Primrose Medical Centre will officially begin on July 2nd.

We're pleased to be partnering with R.W. (Bob) Wall Ltd., led by Donna Hais, to bring this much-needed healthcare project to life. This marks the beginning of an important new chapter in expanding access to primary care for our growing community.

While construction is underway, our fundraising efforts continue. The incredible generosity of our community has brought us to this point, and ongoing support will help ensure the clinic is fully equipped to provide exceptional care for years to come.

Thank you to every donor, volunteer, community partner, and supporter who has helped make this vision a reality — and to those who are considering a donation. Together, we're building a healthier future for Oceanside.

A Wonderful Evening Celebrating Our Physicians and Nurse Practitioners

On May 27, the Mid Island Health Alliance's Recruitment and Retention Committee was honoured to host the Oceanside Physician and Nurse Practitioner Appreciation Dinner, bringing together healthcare professionals, community leaders, and local businesses to celebrate those who provide exceptional care throughout our region.

The evening was a tremendous success, offering an opportunity to recognize the dedication of our physicians and nurse practitioners while strengthening the relationships that make Oceanside such a welcoming place to live and practise medicine.

We were honoured to welcome Qualicum Beach Mayor Teunis Westbroek, who expressed the Town's sincere appreciation for the dedication and compassion of Oceanside's physicians and nurse practitioners. He acknowledged the vital role they play in caring for local families, supporting seniors, and strengthening the overall well-being of the community.

Barney Ellis-Perry, CEO of the Nanaimo & District Hospital Foundation, highlighted the critical importance of family physician recruitment, noting that attracting more primary care providers improves access to healthcare throughout the region while helping reduce pressure on the Oceanside Urgent Care Centre and Nanaimo Regional General Hospital.

The event would not have been possible without the outstanding generosity of our community. Many local businesses stepped forward with sponsorships, donations, and in-kind contributions, demonstrating the remarkable community spirit that makes Oceanside such a special place. Their support helped create a memorable evening for our healthcare professionals and showcased the appreciation our community has for those who care for us every day.

To all of our sponsors, donors, volunteers, and community partners — thank you for helping make the evening such a success. Your commitment to supporting physician and nurse practitioner recruitment and retention plays a vital role in strengthening healthcare in our region.

Building a Stronger Future, Together

As we celebrate these milestones — from breaking ground on the Primrose Medical Centre to recognizing the healthcare professionals who serve our community — we are reminded of what can be accomplished when a community comes together with a shared vision.

Thank you for being part of this journey. Together, we are creating a stronger, healthier future for Oceanside.
