Building Better Public Health Care for the Mid Island Region— Together
Unable to find a doctor?
Too many residents in Qualicum Beach and the Mid-Island region lack access to a primary care practitioner.
We’re changing that by supporting community-based not-for-profit clinics, recruiting and retaining primary care providers, and strengthening publicly delivered health care services across our region.
Thousands of local residents go without regular access to primary care.
Nearly 9,000 people in our region don’t have a family doctor or consistent access to community based publicly delivered primary health care. This leads to long waits, fragmented care, unnecessary ER visits, and added stress for families and seniors.

No one in the Mid Island region should have to travel far, wait months, or pay privately just to get the care they need.
We are already working on solutions
The Primrose Medical Centre
The Primrose Medical Centre is a new, community-rooted primary care clinic being developed by the Mid Island Health Alliance to address the growing shortage of family doctors in Qualicum Beach and the Mid Island region. Opening in September 2026, the centre is designed to improve access to primary care while supporting long-term, sustainable healthcare delivery close to home.

Primrose Medical Centre is happening. The vision is in motion—but community support is still needed to complete the project and bring this vital care to Mid Island.
Real progress for a healthier publicly delivered primary health care system
We’re excited to share that Primrose has successfully recruited four new family physicians and twelve specialists who will provide clinics on a rotating basis. This important step brings our community closer to improved access to publicly delivered primary and specialty care, helping more residents connect with the health services they need, closer to home.
