Projects
The success of these projects relies on community engagement, collaboration and support. Below are our proposed projects.

Primrose Medical Centre
A collaborative initiative to create an innovative, team-based care model within the existing Qualicum Beach. This project will provide space and support for new family physicians and allied health professionals.
Qualicum Beach Health Care Campus (Rupert Road)
A long-term vision for a purpose-built, community-focused primary care centre. This multi-disciplinary facility will serve as a hub and cornerstone of health care delivery for Oceanside and surrounding rural communities.

Primrose Medical Centre
The Primrose Medical Centre is a new, community-rooted primary care clinic being developed by the Mid Island Health Alliance to address the growing shortage of family doctors in Qualicum Beach and the Mid Island region. Opening in September 2026, the centre is designed to improve access to primary care while supporting long-term, sustainable healthcare delivery close to home.

Nearly 9,000 residents in the region currently lack a family doctor, with demand expected to increase due to population growth and physician retirements. Primrose Medical Centre responds directly to this need by creating modern, team-based clinical space that supports physicians, nurse practitioners, and interdisciplinary care providers working together.

At approximately 3,300 square feet, the clinic will include six examination rooms and is planned to support six to nine physicians at full capacity, with the ability to attach up to 9,000 patients over time. Physician recruitment is already underway, with four physicians confirmed and visiting specialists committed to delivering referral-based clinics.
More than a medical facility, Primrose Medical Centre represents a community-powered solution—built through collaboration, philanthropy, and a shared commitment to strengthening local healthcare for current and future generations.
Project Updates
December 1, 2025
The Mid Island Health Alliance (MIHA) has announced that the Primrose Medical Centre is scheduled to open in September 2026, marking a major milestone in expanding access to primary care in Qualicum Beach, Qualicum First Nation, and the surrounding Oceanside region.

After a year of planning, collaboration, and physician recruitment, four physicians have been secured to launch the clinic, with space for additional doctors to join. At full operation, Primrose Medical Centre is designed to support 6–10 physicians and attach at least 9,000 patients, helping address the region’s critical shortage of primary care providers.
The clinic will function as a team-based primary care hub, offering referral-based specialty clinics in areas such as geriatrics, women’s and prenatal health, mental health, and youth care, along with rotating specialist physicians to improve access and reduce wait times.

Dr. Kelly Hadfield will serve as the incoming Medical Director while continuing her leadership roles at the Qualicum Beach Medical Clinic and the Qualicum First Nation Medical Walk-In Clinic. The project is supported through strong community partnerships and philanthropy, with MIHA inviting continued community support to help bring the centre to life.
